I am Yash Ruparelia, a distinguished Behind The Scenes director of photography, commercial photographer, and branding expert specializing in visual storytelling. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with an array of clients, including renowned brands, celebrities, production companies, media studios, and diverse products. My work is characterized by its ability to encapsulate the quintessence and narratives of subjects, delivering captivating and high-caliber imagery.
Holding a BA Degree in History from Kishinchand Chellaram College, Mumbai, India, I embarked on my photography journey post-graduation in 2015, marking the inception of my career as a first-generation photographer within my family. Initially self-taught, my passion for aesthetics and visual artistry deepened through formal education at the National Institute Of Photography. My approach to photography is fuelled by relentless curiosity and creativity, propelling me to continuously experiment with new styles, techniques, and challenges as a fashion and lifestyle photographer.
My career trajectory took a pivotal turn in 2018 when my mentor Anmol Karnik gave me an opportunity to work on a first behind the scenes project our waves, I joined Vice Media as a behind-the-scenes still photographer. This role transitioned into a ground-breaking project with Netflix US for the web series “Indian Matchmaking,” among other significant assignments, steering my path from fashion and lifestyle photography to becoming a behind-the-scenes director of photography —a journey that unfolded as a serendipitous destiny.
With over six years of remarkable experience, I have founded BTSWAALE, a company dedicated to providing comprehensive behind-the-scenes services for TV commercials, web series, and commercial films within the Bollywood Industry. My journey reflects a passion-driven career that has evolved through embracing opportunities and challenges alike, underscoring my commitment to excellence in the visual arts sector.
